This report is written based on the translation of Asian Development Bank’s Project Administration Instructions(excerpts from chapter Ⅱ).The author was entrusted to translate the first two parts of its second chapter, namely 2.01 as well as 2.02.The source text,a total of 10,208 words, mainly introduces the principles to be followed in Asian Development Bank’s consultant recruitment as well as other relevant preparations.Upon analysis,we can find that the source text is basically informative text, which conveys the meaning in clear language, aiming to convey accurate information.Learning from my translation experience and guided by the Skopos Theory, the author attempts to summarize the difficult points and translation strategies employed in the translation practice. There are four parts in this translation project report. The first part is project description, including project introduction and requirements of theclient. The second part is focused on translation process description, including pre-translation,while translation and quality control. The next part is case analysis, which lists the difficulties the author met during the translation process, and then analyzes them under the framework of Skopos Theory. The difficulties mainly include the translation of terminologies, the transformation at syntactical level, and the translation of passive voice sentences and active voice sentences. The last part is the conclusion and limitations of the report. This report holds that while doing terminology translation, the first thing the translator needs to do is make clear the instruction and the purpose of translation and then search related information. To achieve the translation purpose, the translator tried to make the target text concise and precise at syntactical level through such intra—textual coherent methods as amplification, reorganization and conversion. In translating sentences of passive voice, the translator tried to adapt to the target language style and took readers’ reading habit into consideration. The author hopes that this report will be of some help to those who translate similar texts in the future.
