| Organizational arrangement for construction of buildings and its related texts reflect the features of professional description, objective in expression, and well-knit structure in a practical form.It is the basic guiding document, both in economic and technological terms, for construction preparation and implementation of a proposed project. Therefore, the compilation of the organizational arrangement for construction of buildings requires the presence of professional knowledge and experiences, and arrangement for the time division, spatial layout and selection of manpower and material resources, etc. This translation project report, guided by Skopos theory,is devoted to recording the whole process of translation and discussing the translation strategies and techniques in the translation. In this report, the author introduces what are worth our attention in translating polysemous words and jargons in building engineering and emphasizes sentence structure adjustment after using translation technique such as amplification. The author introduces the techniques such asconversion, supplement of proper subject, division, reconstruction, omission used in translating zero-subject sentences and long or complicated sentences.Through this translation practice, the author knows how to keep the balance of sentence, how to choose the words most suitable to the text, and the translation skills of various kinds of Chinese sentences. The author hopes to improve her translation skills by summarizing the experiences and skills of this C-E translation of construction engineering document and offer help to other translators without the related engineering professional knowledge. |
