This is an English-Chinese(E-C)translation practice report on the article written by Rosa,Pieta and Maia,“Theoretical, methodological and terminological issues regarding indirect translation: An overview”.The article deals mainly with some aspects of indirect translation(hereinafter ITr),concentrating on theoretical, methodological and terminological issues.Although translation studies has attracted attention from many scholars, and ITr has also become a hot topic, most studies analyze the advantages, disadvantages and effects of ITr.Within the translation community, there is not much research on ITr per se.In this case, the present study focuses on the issues of ITr,especially terminological issues. In terms of ITr,there has been much research from different perspectives, including feminism and relevance theory. There are also some works from different historical periods that analyze different social phenomena which are relevant to ITr.Those kinds of research have had different bearings on ITr.But so far, still few scholars study ITr from the perspective of post-colonialism.Post-colonial theory is related to multiple theories of culture, politics and criticism. It mainly studies the relationships of cultures and discourses between the colonial and the colonized. In fact, there are many unequal phenomena in translation studies that can be understood from a post-colonial perspective, which reexamines the relationship between the source text and the target text, reviews the gains and losses of translation, and discusses cultural identity and subordinates. In contrast,in the colonial context, translation was an indispensable link and an effective tool for the imperialists to conquer and occupy vulnerable countries.Cultural colonists used translation for ideological infiltration to control and enslave the target countries and peoples to achieve their colonial purposes.Therefore,post-colonial theory can bring some new light to translation studies. This report mainly focuses on the selected material. From a post-colonial perspective,it analyzes some terms and sentences related to ITr in the text.On the basis of considering the meaning of each term, considering the characteristics of ITr,and combining the Chinese and English ways of expression, the present study argues for the most suitable way of translation.Regarding the translation of sentences,it combines the context with some translation methods, such as liberal translation and addition,to ensure the correctness of the meaning and enhance the readability of the translation.
