A Practice Report On The C-E Translation Of Follow A Chinese Path Of Socialist Rural Revitalization From The Perspective Of Nord’s Text Analysis Model

With her continuous improvement of the international status,China has received more and more attention from the world.As a window for international communities to learn more about China’s political,economic,social,and cultural conditions,the translation of Chinese political texts plays a significant role as a bridge of communication.Follow a Chinese Path of Socialist Rural Revitalization was newly published in March 2019 by China Social Sciences Press,which mainly illustrates President Xi’s new ideas,arguments and requirements for the development of agriculture,rural areas and farmers.This report is based on the translation of Chapter4 in Follow a Chinese Path of Socialist Rural Revitalization,focusing on national food security.Based on the author’s translation practice,this report firstly classifies problems encountered in the translation process,which will be analyzed in three linguistic levels: the lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.Then,under the guidance of Nord’s text analysis model,the author puts forward corresponding translation techniques by taking intratextual and extratextual factors into consideration.More specifically,a)in respect to Chinese terms,abbreviations and idioms which target readers are not familiar with,it is true to add necessary explanation to clear the way for reading;b)as for syntactic problems of mistranslating long loose sentence and non-subject sentence,the translation techniques of amplification,omission,division&combination and the change of voice will be provided;c)speaking of the low readability of lengthy paragraph and inconsistent language style at the textual level,restructuring and rewriting will be adopted to solve the problems.In general,it is hoped that this report will provide some reference for future studies on the translationof Chinese political text.
