A Practice Report On Interpretation Of Economic And Trade Policy Lectures From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

The Interpretive Theory,which originated in France in the 1960 s,holds that interpreters should interpret the meaning of the original text with the aids of linguistic symbols and his or her cognitive supplement,in order to achieve the purpose of communication.As the first systematic interpretation theory in the world,Interpretive Theory originated from the practice of interpretation and also guides the practice of interpretation both at home and abroad.The viewpoints of this school have unique implications for interpretation studies.In August 2019,the author participated in the Seminar on “Belt & Road” Initiative Economic and Trade Policy for Cambodia,which was hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and undertaken by Hunan International Business Vocational College.During this period,the author found that preparation before interpreting,coping skills during interpreting and task summary after interpreting are all of great importance.In the process of interpretation,the author encountered a series of problems such as unclear notes,unfamiliar professional terms,unstable psychological state,and producing some unidiomatic language expressions.After interpretation,through the analysis of the materials recollected and recorded,the author found that many problems could be solved under the guidance of Interpretive Theory.The author thus analyzes the problems in the process of interpretation and tries to figure out corresponding strategies in dealing with the problems with the guidance of Interpretive Theory.The author mainly focuses on the three levels of interpretation in the theory of interpretation,analyzes the problems from the perspective of word,sentence,and text interpretation including redundancy of words and sentences,neglect of communication environment,logical confusion.Some general translation skills are introduced and analyzed to help revise the interpretation problems in words,sentences,and texts.After that,the author puts forward corresponding coping skills from the perspective of Interpretive Theory,highlighting and expounding the role of Interpretive Theory in the author’s interpretation practice.The author tries to analyze and solve the problems in the process of interpretation from different perspectives,hoping to recognize the problems of the author more deeply,to provide reference and guidance for her future interpreting practice.
