A Report On Translation Of College News From The Perspective Of Dynamic Equivalence

In recent years,a great number of foreign experts,scholars and international students have visited China’s colleges as China’s improvement in economic strength and international status.At the same time,China’s higher learning institutions,especially those with strong academic and research abilities,are also striving for international development and expanding their international reputation.Against this backgrounds,college news translation has become an important way for the outside world to learn more about China’s colleges.This paper is a translation practice report on the basis of translation practice of college news.No different from other social news,college news is also time-sensitive and featured with certain purposes and accuracy.In the translation process,translators need to compile news materials according to the actual needs of the target readers.Therefore,the translator uses dynamic equivalence theory as the guiding theory of the entire practice.Eugene Nida’s dynamic equivalence theory advocates that translation should not be constrained by the linguistic form of the source language,and it’s not only about the linguistic equivalence between the source language and the target language,but also the convergence of the response of the source language reader and the target language reader.The reporter will mainly start the report from the lexical,syntactic and textual level.In terms of lexical level,the reporter will mainly analyze the verbs and the culture-loaded words in the source text according to the principle of formal and semantic equivalence.At the syntactic level,due to the Chinese-English Syntactic difference,the reporter need to split the long sentences,convert the active sentences and sentence components in the original text.As for the textual level,the reporter need to make the effect of the target language be consistent with that of the original text by restoring the logical relationship in the original text.This translation practice report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the description of the translation task,which mainly includes the background and source of the translation task,the content and the meaning of the task.The second chapter is the description of the translation process,which includes the theoretical basis of translation and the specific process of the translation.The third chapter is the translation case analysis.The author will analyze the problems encountered in the translation practice and explain how those obstacles were handled.The fourth chapter is a summary of translation practice.The author will summarize the experience and findings of the translation practice.The author hopes to discusses the problems encountered in the Chinese-English colleges news translation practice and at the same time strive to find the best solution and provide reference for later starters.
