Studies On Shengchao Minghua Ping ("Evaluations Of Sung Dynasty Painters Of Renown") With A Critical

Shengchao Minghua Ping(《圣朝名画评》“Evaluations of Sung Dynasty Painters of Renown”),written by Liu Daochun in the Northern Song Dynasty,is one of the fundamental works in Chinese art history.During its passing-down with varied copies and collating by following scholars,the whole editions of Shengchao Minghua Ping have lost the original features,which includes accumulated biases and errors,too.Even the former collections of the book are in yet perfect condition,there are seldom discussions on their improvement.Therefore,this thesis focuses mainly on the collation of Shengchao Minghua Ping.The Jiajing edition in Ming is used as the text base,proofreading with other references and treatises without limited to authors or time periods.This paper also intends to comb the developing process of the master work,as well as to card its research history.In the end it’s trying to solve some key problems of Shengchao Minghua Ping,including the time of its completion,the writing style,the critiques,and categorizations.
