| Teachers’ professional identity is a hot issue for educational researchers in recent years.Many researches on teaching and teacher education at home and abroad have emphasized the importance of teacher’s professional identity in teacher’s career development.As the guider of education implementation,English teachers in secondary vocational schools are the main factors affecting the quality of English teaching in secondary vocational schools.Therefore,it is of theoretical and practical significance to study the professional identity of English teachers in secondary vocational schools.To find out the present situation of the secondary vocational school English teachers’ professional identity in Panzhihua city,tbased on social identity theory and self-efficacy theory,this study uses the methods of qualitative and quantitative research to investigate the English teachers of six secondary vocational schools in Panzhihua City,Sichuan Province,and interview six secondary vocational English teachers.It also discusses and analyzes the secondary vocational school English teachers’ professional identity from six aspects: gender,age,education background,teaching age,professional title and whether they are head teachers.The findings are as follows: the professional identity of secondary vocational school English teachers is high;the different genders make no significant difference in the professional identity of English teachers in secondary vocational schools;the different ages make no significant difference in the professional identity of English teachers in secondary vocational schools;the different professional titles make no significant difference in the professional identity of English teachers in secondary vocational schools.However,the different teaching ages makes the big differences in the professional identity of English teachers in secondary vocational schools;there is no significant difference between the head teacher and non-head teacher’s professional identity of the secondary vocational English teachers,but there is a significant difference in the dimension of professional values.The professional values of the head teacher are higher than those of the non head teacher.Finally,this study puts forward some countermeasures to improve the professional identity level of English teachers in secondary vocational schools from education departments,schools and teachers these three aspects. |
