Qin Hui(1090-1155),whose other name was Huizhi,was from Jiangning(belongs to Nanjing,Jiangsu Province today).He was born in Huangzhou in December 1090,the Yuan You 5rd of Emperor Zhe Zong of Song dynasty.The Zheng He 5rd of Hui Zong,he passed the imperial examination and became a Jinshi.,and then was given the position of director of education in Mizhou.The Xuan He 5rd,he passed the literature and moral examination,and successively held the posts of the President of Imperial College,the Deputy Chief of the Imperial Geographic,the Royal Censor,the Director of Public Prosecutions,the Director of Supervisory Authority.In Jingkang 2rd of Qin Zong(1127),he angered the generals of the Jin Dynasty by suggesting that the regime of the Song Dynasty should be preserved,and then he was captured to the North.In Jian Yan 4rd of Gao Zong(1130),he returned to the South and proposed peace talks with the Jin Dynasty.He was then appointed the Director of the Board of Rites,and was soon elected the Second Prime minister.In August 1132,the Shaoxing 2rd,he was removed from his post and then lived in Yongjia County.It was not until 1136 that he was reinstated as mayor of Wenzhou,Shaoxing.Soon afterwards,the emperor appointed him the interim governor of the mobile capital.In 1137,he was appointed chairman of the Military Commission and was again elected prime minister the following year,and became prime minister in 1141.In October 1155,the Shaoxing 25 rd,he died as prime minister at the age of 66.The emperor made him Prince Shen,and gave him a title,Zhong Xian,which meant loyalty and dedication.Soon after,the next emperor revoked all the honors he had received before,and gave him a new title,Miu Hen,which meant he was absurd and cruel.Qin Hui was in power for 18 years,which had a profound influence on politics,economy,culture and other aspects in the early Southern Song Dynasty.Based on the rich literature and the research results of previous scholars,this chronicle comprehensively clears up the life and practice of Qin Hui,corrects mistakes and adds omissions and makes some textual research and explanation on the classics,names and literary behaviors of Qin Hui and its related people,hoping to provide detailed and accurate chronicle historical materials for the lovers and researchers of Southern Song Dynasty.
