Research On The Application Of Household System In Song Dynasty

The household system is a kind of institutional arrangement in which the state divides households into several levels according to the number of people and the amount of assets,and then serves the needs of state management according to the different conditions of households.The household system appeared at the latest in the Northern Dynasty and gradually developed in the Sui and Tang Dynasties,with the Song Dynasty being its heyday,which was specifically manifested in the appearance of the special household plate books--the five classes of the household plate book and the extensive application of the household plate system in the fields of conscription and cordage and urban management.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part briefly summarizes the development of the system of the former households of the Song Dynasty.The second part introduces the development of households and other systems in the Song Dynasty,focusing on the specific application of households and other systems in the Song Dynasty,and discusses separately how the country carried out the duty collection,tax collection and disaster relief through households and other systems in the Song Dynasty.The third part analyzes why the household system declines in the application of social management.In the Song Dynasty,household corvee system played an important role in taxation,social relief and urban management.The existence and development of household system,on the one hand,is promoted by the social and economic development,on the other hand,is also the choice of the government’s social management philosophy,and is the need of the economic order and stability among the common people.The decline of household and other systems is related to their tedious gradation,and the application of household and other systems is restricted under the reality that social and economic development leads to the change of people’s assets.The adjustment of the household registration system in the Ming Dynasty made the separate existence of household registration system meaningless.Since there was a Yellow Book on the arrangement of household registration,there was no need to spend special manpower and material resources to do repeated work,and the household registration system declined accordingly.The household system itself is the product of social and economic development and social management needs.It also declines with the further development of social economy and the government’s pursuit of more effective social management.
