A Report On The E-C Translation Of Sustaining China-Africa Relations:Slotting Africa Into China’s One Belt,One Road Initiative Makes Economic Sense

With the development of China’s "One Belt and One Road" initiative and the deepening development of China-Africa relations,more and more scholars from home and abroad have focused their attention on this initiative.As a result,the translation of relevant academic texts is of greater value.This translation report is based on an academic paper Sustaining China-Africa relations: slotting Africa into China’s One Belt,One Road initiative makes economic sense published in the Asian Journal of Comparative Politics in September,2017.Having China-Africa relations as its research object,this paper focuses on the possibility of expanding the OBOR initiative to cover more African nations.The selected text contains about 12,039 English words,and was translated by the translator independently.Under the guidance of the theory of eco-translatology,in this report the translator explores the translation of the source text from three perspectives:linguistic dimension,communicative dimension and cultural dimension.There are five parts in this report: introduction,translating process,guiding theory for the translation project,case analysis and summary.The introduction part shows background and significance of the translation project.The translating process includes pre-translation preparation,translation of the source text,revision and final polishing.In the part of guiding theory,eco-translatology and the three dimensions are briefly introduced.With regard to case analysis,some examples are analyzed to show how the problems arising from translating the selected text are solved from three perspectives of linguistic dimension,communicative dimension and cultural dimension.The summary is mainly about findings and limitations of the translation and the report.It is hoped that this report provides reference for the translation of similar texts.
