Mou Zi’s theory of reason and confusion is the earliest extant book on Buddhism in China,which vividly shows the process of communication and integration between Buddhism and Confucianism and Taoism when Buddhism was first introduced into China,and is of great significance to the study of the starting point and development of Buddhism in China,it can also shed light on the study of the integration of foreign cultures and the communication and reconciliation of different religious cultures.This paper mainly discusses the book’s ideas from four aspects.First,it briefly introduces the evolution of the edition of "mou Zi’s theory of reasoning and confusion",and makes a general interpretation of the basic Buddhist thoughts such as the Buddha,sutras,monasticism and the dissemination of Buddhist theories,so as to grasp the whole of "Mou Zi’s theory of reasoning and confusion.Secondly,by introducing the comparison and discussion of Buddhist thought and traditional Chinese cultural thought in " Mu Zi’s Theory of Confusion ",especially on the discussion of the concepts of " family "," filial piety "," ritual and law "," life,death,ghosts and Gods " in Confucianism,as well as the criticism of “immortal and Taoism" and the discussion of "the Hua-Yi distinction",this article analyzes and discusses the conflict and integration of Buddhist thought and Chinese traditional culture.Thirdly,on the basis of systematically sorting out the ideological system of Mou Zi’s theory of theory of confusion,this paper analyzes the historical status of Mou Zi’s theory of confusion and its influence on later generations from the aspects of cultural transmission and the way of dialogue between different cultures.
