Study On The Art Of Seal Cutting By Su Xuan

The late Ming dynasty was a period of rapid development of politics,economy and culture.People’s thoughts changed greatly and the development of art presented a colorful situation.At this time,the art of seal cutting focuses on expressing the author’s inner cognition,showing a vigorous and upward development trend.Su Xuan was another influential seal cutter after Wen Peng and He Zhen.Through the research on the formation process and characteristics of seal cutting art in Su Xuan,this paper further clarifies the characteristics of seal cutting art in Su Xuan and its influence on the seal cutting art.The research on the art of seal cutting in Su Xuan is mainly carried out from four aspects: first,the social fashion of "seeking novelty and being different" and the enhancement of innovation consciousness in the late Ming dynasty made the pursuit of the art of seal cutting significantly changed.The Su Xuan seal cutting face was greatly influenced by this social trend,continuing the "Han printing craze",and there was a new way of expression for "Han printing",and the appearance of "ancient Chinese characters" into the phenomenon of printing.Second,Su Xuan made innovations on the basis of following the social trend.The mature application of cutting method and "single knife" effect in the seal made the Su Xuan seal carving look quite different from Wen Peng and He Zhen.Thirdly,Su Xuan broadened his horizon by studying and traveling so as to have a better understanding of seal cutting.On this basis,Su Xuan through his own efforts to make the surrounding people can also correctly recognize the seal cutting,change the printing altar is limited to the printing spectrum,mud in the "text" of the development of the situation.Fourth,Su Xuan had a great influence on the altar of Yin,which was fully reflected in the "surabaya sect" put forward by Zhu Jian.However,the basis proposed by Zhu Jian is quite different from the current understanding of the genre,so it is not the same.
