The Greatest Truths Are The Simplest

Dandang is a relic of the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty,his poetry,calligraphy and painting are "three unique" as a whole.He once took scholars in the Ming Dynasty,then he hid in the empty door and under the forest.The multiplicity of his identity makes his works of art expression quite diverse and contradictory,and unique in the historical stage of Chinese painting.In the historical background of late Ming and early Qing Dynasty,the party struggle made the politics rotten and dark.Most scholars chose to go back to hiding and avoid disaster.As a recluse at that time,Dandang saw through the complexity of the current situation,hopeless to save the country,but also has the heart to help the world.His inner entanglement led him to choose to go with the Green Lantern and the ancient Buddha,and the thought of "emptiness" in Zen was consolation,and this kind of thought was focused on the pen end and paper,so Dandang’s later painting works showed the appearance of desolation,emptiness and simplicity.The "simplicity" of his paintings is the manifestation of his inner mind.The wastefulness of the rocks in his paintings is his expression and speech of "reversing the world" in reality,which is the manifestation of his true temperament.Compared with the real world,this "truth" is more real.It can be seen that there is a profound "great truth" behind Dandang’s simple painting,which is called "great truth is simple".It is the purpose of this paper to analyze the reason of "strange and simple and empty" in Dandang’s paintings and try to interpret the truth behind his empty and simple pictures.Starting from the basic materials,this paper collects and analyzes the materials,documents,poems and Atlas related to Dandang,taking Dandang’s life and the evolution of his paintings as clues,combining with the social and cultural background of the late Ming Dynasty,in order to explore the reasons for the formation of his painting style and explore its ideological connotation,And try to analyze the expression method of Dandang’s ink from the perspective of painting practice,through the ink language in the picture to confirm Dandang’s ideological connotation,the richness of his ideological connotation is the truth behind Dandang’s empty and simple picture.
