The Evolution Of Guan Gong Belief And Ritual In Dangyang Area,Hubei

This paper takes the Guangong belief in Dangyang area of Hubei Province as the research object,on the basis of literature review,supplemented by field research,combined with the theory of religion teaching,to explore the construction and change of Guangong belief in Dangyang area.As a unique folk belief in China,Guan Gong belief is built on the back of the social system of traditional Chinese society.In the process of development,it interacts with Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,and gradually expands from the ghosts and gods worshiped by ordinary Dangyang people to the tools of educating people in the official discourse system within the scope of the country.In the new era,combined with today’s social politics,it has become an important boost to promote tourism industry and economic development in Dangyang.The special significance of Guangong belief in different times is closely related to the group that dominates the belief activities,and its function for the audience also changes with the change of the dominant system of the main discourse.Based on the clue of time and the basic foothold of Dangyang area,this paper discusses the changes and development of Guangong belief in the three aspects of belief construction,ritual activities and religious functions under the guidance of different discourse systems.The full text is divided into four chapters.The first chapter traces the process of Guan Gong’s becoming a God from human beings.It takes the construction process of Guan Gong’s worship from the folk to the interaction with power to become the emperor of Guan Sheng in the mouth of royal power as the main line,and discusses the role of the integration of Guan Gong’s belief and Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism in promoting the construction of Guan Gong’s belief.The second chapter analyzes the construction of the belief of Guan Gong with ritual,and expounds the folk discourse as the dominant ritual and official discourse as the dominant ritual,as well as the form and expression of the modern Autumn Festival ceremony of Dangyang Guan.The third chapter focuses on the changes of the function of Guangong belief and the analysis of the believers as the main driving force of the function construction.At the same time,it analyzes the contemporary value of the traditional Guangong belief,which includes that Guangong belief is of great significance to the national rejuvenation and culturalconfidence,and serves as the "concretion" of the cultural identity of Chinese at home and abroad.Guangong belief is also of great value to the contemporary tourism industry.
