| Hume’s "Being" and "ought" questions in the theory of human nature have deeply influenced the development of epistemology and ethics, which is one of the classic questions in western philosophy.Among many philosophers who explore Hume Problem,Putnam’s point of view is refreshing. He makes a rigorous analysis of Hume Problem, analyzes the meaning of "fact" in dichotomy through the historical study of dichotomy of fact and value, and declares the collapse of dichotomy of fact and value.Putnam once answered Hume’s question, and the most difficult point is that he also rebuilt the relationship between fact and value. He believed that fact and value are not only two parts, but also integrated.Putnam’s work has attracted the attention of the western philosophy circle and has a great influence. Some scholars think Putnam’s point of view is still insufficient, because he did not elaborate on the difference between fact and value. This paper explores Putnam’s solution to Hume Problem from the following three parts. The first part examines the core connotation of Hume Problem, analyzes the evolution and debate process of Hume problem comprehensively, and finally, from the perspective of Putnam, analyzes the relationship between fact and value, criticizes the concept of dichotomy, and reorganizes the relationship between fact and value. The second part studies Putnam’s theoretical approach to solving Hume Problem, and makes a detailed analysis of the integration of facts and values.Putnam’s "mixed ethical concept" shows that fact and value are not independent of each other, fact itself contains part of value, and they are not two-fold.The third part mainly demonstrates that Putnam’s solution to Hume’s problem has certain inspiration for us to understand the problem of fact and value.Putnam has built a bridge between fact and value on the basis of reasonable acceptability. His solution to Hume’s problem has promoted the development of practical theory and made contribution to the new realism. |
