| Listening,speaking,reading and writing are necessary skills in the English study of high school students,and reading ability is an important way for students to acquire English knowledge,understand foreign culture and improve English comprehensive ability.In recent years,the Ministry of Education has proposed policies of increasing the amount of reading in the subjects such as Chinese and English,the tide of the reform of reading teaching has been raised.Under the requirement of the new curriculum standard,the high school English teaching also pays more and more attention to the development of student?s reading ability.The subject type of the college entrance examination in all regions has changed greatly,and the new type of reading which is represented by the task-type reading becomes a major obstacle to the high school students.The increase of the vocabulary and the increasing difficulty of the grammars,and the higher requirement of logical thinking ability make English reading become a difficult problem for many high school students.However,due to the traditional teaching ideas and mode,teachers pay too much attention to the explanation of words,grammar and syntax,ignoring the supplement the background knowledge after reading materials and the cultivation of students’ reading skills and strategies,as well as ignoring the reading training for students,which leads to students’ lack of interest in reading and poor reading level.As an efficient teaching tool,the mind map has been widely used in the teaching of various subjects in recent years.As it can concrete the abstract things such as thinking or knowledge structure in the form of image,and it has the characteristics of vivid,clear layering,help of thinking and divergence,high interest,simple and high-efficiency,the mind map plays important roles in the teaching of each subjects,especially in the aspects of the excitation of the interest of the students’ learning and the improvement of students? learning ability.In view of this,this study optimizes high school reading teaching with the help of thinking map,and explores whether the application of mind map in English reading teaching can stimulate the students’ reading interest.(2)Whether this teaching mode can improve the reading level of the students.The following enlightenment is obtained: Reading teaching on the basis of drawing clear mind maps can help students master various reading structures,clarify reading ideas,improve English reading level,and effectively improve the efficiency and quality of English reading teaching in senior high school.The teaching experiment of English reading was carried out among two classes(118 students in total)in the first grade of Chang Jiang Kuang Qu Zhong Xue in Hainan,and the experiment lasted from 20 February to 10 July 2017.The author takes one class as the experimental class,carries on the mind map English reading teaching mode and instructs students with reading skill,another class as the control class,carries on the traditional teaching mode.In the experimental class,there were 58 students,25 boys and 33 girls,and girls were more interested in English learning than boys,and their grades were also slightly better than boys.But overall,students in the experimental class are basically with the same English level as those in the control class.The PEP edition English for senior one is selected by the author as a teaching material.After a semester of comparative teaching,the author carries on the questionnaire survey and the test to the two class students,and then,the “T” test of the results of the two examinations is carried out by using SPSS software.Through analysis,it is concluded that there is a significant difference between the teaching effect of the class using mind map teaching mode and the effect of the class using the traditional teaching method.It can be concluded that the application of mind map in English reading teaching in senior high school has great influence on students learning and on English reading teaching.Firstly,the combination of schema and traditional reading enhance the interest of reading,effectively stimulate students’ interest and initiative in reading;secondly,the strengthen of the interaction between teachers and students,letting students find the fun of reading;thirdly,the guidance of teachers’ reading strategies helps students master efficient reading skills,improving their reading level and enhancing their confidence in English learning.The progress of students in all aspects has promoted the improvement of reading teaching level to a certain extent.It is hoped that this study can provide reference for the further research of English reading teaching as well as for the continuous development of students? reading ability and the improvement of English reading teaching. |
