| After Ren Bonian and Wu Changshuo,Wu Hufan,a generation leader of the Shanghai School,is not only good at painting and calligraphy creation, but also more attentive to appreciation and collection and research,as well as leaving numerous achievements in other fields. In terms of poetry,"Ning Song Ci Hen",which he filled in constantly,is a literary summary of the identity of the poet.In terms of calligraphy, with half his life’s energy,he studied Mi Fu,made new things from the past, and developed his own way.As for seal cutting, although not many works were left, they were praised by famous masters. As for education, the Meijing Bookstore he founded has trained a number of calligraphers and connoisseurs for New China, such as Xu Bangda,Lu Yifei,Wang Jiqian, and Zhu Meicun.Returning to the theme of Wu Hufan’s calligraphy, the thesis is explained in four chapters combined with multiple pictures for analysis. The first chapter introduces his family background and social life, and briefly describes the collection of Wu Hufan’s paintings and calligraphy, which will help us understand the reasons for the formation of Wu Hufan’s calligraphy style. The second chapter starts with a brief description of the background of Wu Hufan ’s declining stele study, and discusses the influence of the style of calligraphy "Qiu Mei Ya Yi" in his local area on him.The third chapter is an important part of this thesis, mainly from the origin of Wu Hufan’s calligraphy and the stage of calligraphy, focusing on analyzing the characteristics of Wu Hufan’s running script. He learned from Dong Qichang early in his writing, and often saw inscriptions. After purchasing thousands of words in Zhao Ji’s regular script in the mid-term,he turned to Zhao Ji.Later he got Mifu’s "Multi-view House Poems",following Mi Fu’s style, which represented his highest achievement in calligraphy. In terms of techniques,Wu Hufan inherited the typical brushwork of Wang Xizhi,Wang Xianzhi and Mi Fu,such as twisting, brushing, and crab claw hooks. In the word formation, the space in his character is approriate in density with the dynamic and static combination of the character. At the same time, the overall constitution of the work is full of ups and downs, with diverse character sets and rich ink.The fourth chapter introduces his art of seal cutting and selects his self-engraved seal cutting in Yuan Dynasty and white and red seal printing for a brief appreciation.Under the influence of his grandfather WuDalian,Wu Hufan used to imitate the ancient seals of Qin and Han dynasties. The fifth chapter elaborates the inspiration to my creation.Through the analysis of Wu Hufan’s calligraphy works, let me understand how he inherited and innovated, and recognize the shortcomings of my calligraphy learning, and know the essentials and goals of studying calligraphy in the future. |
