Study Of Cartoon Style In Contemporary Oil Paintings

With the economy globalization trend,the economic and cultural exchanges between countries have been increasingly closed.The economic growth promotes generation and circulation of cultural commodities,and the public aesthetics is also changed,and lots of art forms and cultures adapted to this new economic situation are also emerged at this historic moment.Through continuous exploration,human beings have always been developing and discovering new forms for expressing things,from the initial knot notes,totem drawing,etc.to color filling and more complex expressions.Oil paintings also present diversified development trends in the exchange and collision of varied cultures,wherein cartoon-style oil paintings emerged in China in the 1990 s is the newly-developed art form which is influenced by this era.The economy globalization has gradually brought art creation in line with the international community,such that new artistic thoughts are also introduced to the development of cartoonized oil paintings.Influencing by constant development and progress of economy and culture of China,young artists in this new era actively explore and create paintings with unique artistic characteristics through unremitting practices.Chinese artists of cartoonized oil paintings,mostly post-70 s and post-80 s,are a generation that grew up with popularity of cartoons and influenced by foreign cultures.They attach great importance to subjective expressions of art works,and prefer to use childhood memories,fantasy dreams,growth environments,etc.as themes for artistic creation.This thesis illustrates expression forms of cartoon-style painting in contemporary oil paintings,discusses and analyzes works of cartoonized oil painting artists,and summarizes and explores the reasons for the generation of the cartoon-style painting in the contemporary oil paintings and also the development of same,thus motivating creative thinking of contemporary cartoon oil paintings.The thesis is themed with the cartoon style in oil paintings,and the structure thereof mainly comprises three parts,namely,the introduction,the main body and the conclusion.The introduction mainly describes the purpose,significance and status of the study,and also the study method.The first chapter of the main body mainly introduces factors and causes of the development of cartoon-style painting in oil paintings;the second chapter analyzes andsummarizes artistic language characteristics of cartoonized oil paintings;the third chapter discusses the similarities and differences between cartoonized oil paintings and flat oil paintings;the fourth chapter analyzes and discusses contemporary cartoon-style oil painting artists and their representative works;the fifth chapter of the main body analyzes and explores the limitations of cartoon-style oil paintings;and the sixth chapter mainly explains influences of the cartoonized oil paintings on the author’s painting creation.Through relatively comprehensive and systematic collation and elaboration of the above points,this thesis attempts to clearly reflect an overall profile of the cartoonized oil painting which is an emerging artistic expression form.
