A Study On Variant Characters Between Literature In The Warring States Period And Handed-down Documents

There are eleven chapters that can be read between Literature in the Warring States Period(战国纵横家书)unearthed from Han Tomb at Changsha Mawangdui and handed-down documents such as the Stratagems of the Warring States(战国策)and Records of the Historian(史记).It produces a wealth of variant characters,which are reliable materials for the study of ancient words and expressions.By sorting out these variant characters and analyzing their internal relations,we can further deepen our understanding of the characters used in Literature in the Warring States Period(战国纵横家书).This paper is divided into three parts: introduction,classification of variant characters and the special subject study.The first chapter is the introduction,mainly introduces the significance of the topic,research material,research status,research content and research methods.Chapter two is classification of variant characters.A total of 336 groups of variant characters were collected,which were divided into six categories of phonetic loan characters,ancient-modem words,variant form,omit characters,mistaken characters and synonyms.The first section discusses the problems related to phonetic loan characters,ancient-modem words and variant form.The second section is phonetic loan characters.According to Mr.Wang li’s classification of the ancient chinese language divided into 30 rhyme categories.The third section is ancient-modem words,the diachronic evolution of ancient-modem words is sorted out by combining ancient books and unearthed documents.The fourth section variant form,which is divided into nine categories according to the characters.The fifth section has carried on the discussion to the omit characters phenomenon.The sixth section of the wrong words.According to the wrong reasons,the wrong words in the Literature in the Warring States Period(战国纵横家书)and handed down documents were classified.Theseventh section is synonyms,which is classified according to part of speech,and use the methods of mutual glossing to determine synonyms.Chapter three is the special subject study.The first part analyzes 34 groups of variant characters which having an indirect relation.The second part discusses the phenomenon that the commonly-used characters in phonetic loan characters.This paper makes full use of the richness of ancient books handed down and the authenticity of unearthed documents,combining the two kinds of documents,and sorts types of variant characters and to tease out their relationship.Summed up the era characteristics and individual characteristics of Literature in the Warring States Period(战国纵横家书)’characters,and think it has positive significance to promote the appearance of Shuowenjiezi(说文解字)and so on.
