| This is a report on translating an article titled Terrorist Group Types and Tactic Choice authored by Ranya Ahmed from Journal of Applied Security Research.This article examines the role of ideology,time and the Internet in making tactic choices within five terrorist groups.Today,the world is witnessing waves of terrorist attacks which threaten the safety of people’s lives and properties.Choosing this article,the translator tries to reveal more details about group types and tactic choice of terrorists,so as to help scholars do study and counter-terrorism staff make targeted policies..This report consists of six chapters: Chapter One serves as an overall description of this translation project,including its background,significance and structure of the report.Chapter Two gives information about the author as well as an analysis of the main contents and the textual feature of the source text.The translator finds that passive voice and attributive clause are not only two of the most striking linguistic features of this article,but also two of the major difficulties.Chapter Three elaborates upon Skopos Theory,the translation theory the translator adopts in this project.Chapter Four presents the two major difficulties in this project,namely,passive voice and attributive clause.Chapter Five analyzes how the translator,guided by the Skopos Theory,deals with these two difficulties with methods like conversion and so on.Chapter Six,the conclusion,summarizes the gains from this translation project and problems to be solved. |
