English extensive reading is the main course for English majors,but the current teaching of English extensive reading only pays attention to form education and ignores meaning communication.English extensive reading teaching only stays at the level of words and sentences,but ignores the understanding of text and context.Teachers are still in the leading position in the classroom,students are in a passive position in the classroom,the teaching effect is always unsatisfactory,there are many problems,such as students’ reading speed is not up,students’ application level of English vocabulary and oral English is low,students’ enthusiasm in participating in English extensive reading teaching is poor,etc.,which greatly reduces the teaching of English extensive reading course.Therefore,it is of great significance for students to recognize the importance of extensive English reading,to strengthen their participation in it and to improve their interest in it.In this regard,this paper takes C College as an example,analyzes its shortcomings in the teaching process of extensive English reading,and then puts forward suggestions for improvement,which is of great importance to a certain extent The practical significance of.Through questionnaire survey and case analysis,this paper hopes to investigate the participation of English Major Freshmen in a local private higher learning institution.The survey results show that the students’ curriculum learning experience is single,the participation and participation quality are low,and the students’ understanding of effective curriculum learning experience is biased.In order tostimulate the students’ interest in English reading and expand the scope of English reading,this paper attempts to analyze the emotional strategies and cognitive strategies of schema theory to stimulate the students’ interest in English reading by combining the teaching practice of English extensive reading with the understanding of extensive reading class,the views and suggestions of reading materials,and the evaluation of personal reading level and habits To understand the culture of English speaking countries,to really improve the teaching quality of students in combination with discourse and context understanding,and to put forward practical and effective solutions on the basis of in-depth analysis,such as providing appropriate and interesting learning materials,breaking through the key points and difficulties of knowledge imparting with "intensive speaking",carrying out autonomous learning with problem orientation,changing teaching concepts,and introducing teachers,to build a harmonious relationship between teachers and students,to create a warm learning atmosphere,to change teaching methods,to stimulate students’ desire to participate and to optimize teaching methods,and to further improve the effect of extensive reading teaching for College English majors,so as to improve the enthusiasm of College English Majors for extensive reading courses.
