| Background.Lying is the act of deliberately fabricating or concealing the truth in order to deceive. While lying, individuals have obvious changes in peripheral physiological indicators,as well as differences in cognitive behavior and neural activity.Research on lie detection based on these indicators has promoted the development of lie detection. At present, the focus of lie detection research has gradually shifted from peripheral physiological indicators and their experimental paradigm to behavioral or neural indicators based on internal cognitive control.Purpose and method.Based on the cognitive control problem of lie detection theory, this study used the Old/New paradigm in the field of memory to compare the response time and accuracy of the subjects when they were lying and when they were telling the truth, and also investigated the difference between fabricating facts and concealing the truth. The results.(1)for the familiar information and the unfamiliar information, there was a significant difference in the response time and accuracy index of the subjects.Specifically, there is a significant difference between the time and accuracy of the subjects’ response to the previously learned information and the response time and accuracy of the subjects’ response to the previously learned information and the response time and accuracy of the subjects’ response to the previously learned information.(2)in both types of lying, concealing the truth causes greater cognitive conflict and results in a longer reaction time than faking the truth. The results showed that the response time required to respond to the remembered words was significantly higher than that required to respond to the remembered words.(3)the interval of response stimuli has a certain influence on the response time and accuracy of the subjects.Studies have shown that the interval of response stimuli can induce the individuals to neglect the goal, which leads to the increase of the response time required by the subjects to complete the task.Innovation.The study confirms that whether or not cognitive conflict arises is a central marker that distinguishes lying from telling the truth, concealing the truth from fabricating the truth.Whether there is a process of suppressing the existing factual information during lying is the key to distinguish between concealing the truth and fabricating the truth. |
