“The Seasons” is the Tchaikovsky’s work which is a series of twelve piano chapters,and it is based on twelve pieces of poems,as well as it represents the scene of each month in a y ear of Russia.Because of the effect of poem,“The Seasons” has poetic prospect,which depic ts the natural scenery and culture of Russia.Furthermore,music is not only the vocal art,but also the linguistic art.Therefore,this piano chapter is the combination of these two factors.Its rhythm,melody and harmony are the poetic language which displays four seasonal scene s.In this paper,three parts will be used to analyze this masterpiece from Tchaikovsky.First part is the briefing of creation background;the second part will select four songs,which stand for spring,summer,autumn and winter,to exemplify its artistic characteristic;finally,in terms of performance skill,the phases have scenic speciality will be chosen to demonstrate how the skill works.
