With the development of cities in the world, traffic congestion and air pollution have become worldwide baffling problems. To alleviate these problems,European countries have paid more attention to urban and transport planning since the Industrial Revolution, which has enriched their experience of urban planning. In recent years, urbanization in China has developed rapidly.Since most achievements on sustainable urban planning come from European countries, their experience will be beneficial to Chinese planners. In this case, the E-C translation of urban planning reports is of great significance. This report is based on the E-C translation of excerpts from Integrating Human Health into Urban and Transport Planning published by Springer International Publishing AG in 2018.The source text includes Chapters 19 and 20 which are the papers of environmental science. It mainly introduces the process of designing road networks and the impact of green spaces on health. This report consists of four chapters:Chapter One introduces the background and features of source text as well as significance of the translation task;Chapter Two details the translation process, including the preliminary preparation, translation process and quality control;Chapter Three is case study, which analyzes the translation cases under the guidance of Functional Equivalence at lexical, syntactic and discourse levels;Chapter Four summarizes the experience and limitations during the process of translation.Through translation practice along with report writing, the translator has enhanced the understanding of urban planning and enriched experience of translating scientific texts. It is concluded that the translator should concern the accuracy of technical terms in the target text at first. Then syntactic features in the source text, mainly characterized by complex sentences, should be focused on.The translator needs to achieve fluent translation by using appropriate translation techniques and ensure that the translated version transmits the content objectively.
