The Issue Of "Women’s Occupation" In Xinguang Magazine And The Propaganda Of Japanese Puppet Slavery

Xinguang is a comprehensive women’s magazine sponsored by Xinguang magazine.It lasted five years and was published and sold in Peiping in April 1940 and stopped publication in April 1945.In the early days of the fall of North China,under the cultural policy of strict control by the Japanese and puppets,Xinguang magazine vigorously publicized the slogans of "Sino Japanese Alliance" and "the construction of Greater East Asia’s common prosperity",and carried out colonial infiltration.After the outbreak of the Pacific War,the Japanese army lost one after another in the Asian battlefield.Xinguang magazine adjusted its columns and cultural contents in line with the changes of the war situation,and continued to strengthen the propaganda of Japanese puppet enslavement until it stopped publication.This paper takes the issue of women’s occupation in Xinguang magazine as the research object,analyzes the difficulties,causes and solutions of women’s occupation in the magazine,and explores the colonial cultural strategies in the occupied areas.First of all,this paper introduces the background,development process and column setting of Xinguang magazine.In order to expand its influence and cater to the strict cultural propaganda policy implemented by the Japanese puppet government in the enemy occupied areas,Xinguang magazine set up editorials,Xinguang news agency,wartime women and other columns,and assisted the implementation with the help of the authority of Zhou Zuoren,Yin Meibo and Wen Nianci.Secondly,this paper focuses on women’s employment difficulties and reasons.Women’s career dilemmas include:there are a lot of career restrictions for women in society,women without ability take up their positions and do nothing,and professional women are difficult to be comprehensive in work and housework.The reasons for these dilemmas are:for a long time,influenced by the traditional agricultural society,women’s employment consciousness is not strong,and their knowledge and ability are also limited.These reports seem to be concerned about women’s issues and people’s lives,but in fact,they are intended to narrow the distance between the magazine and the people and lay the ideological foundation for the magazine’s colonial infiltration.Finally,this paper reveals that while providing solutions for women,the magazine uses ideological and public opinion reports to achieve the political purpose of enslavement propaganda.The magazine proposes to create nursery institutions to help women find jobs and solve the dilemma of not taking into account their families.At the same time,it is also to meet the needs of the war and serve the needs of the war.The magazine also encouraged women in the occupied areas to learn from Japanese and German women and publicized colonial ideas such as "China Japan alliance" and "East Asia common prosperity".Xinguang magazine can adjust the focus of propaganda timely according to the war situation,imperceptibly confuse the women in the occupied areas of North China,and make them become the obedient people of Japanese colonists unconsciously.
