Research On The Origin Of Mohism Science

Under the influence of the western learning trend of thought and the development of modern western science and technology,the superb science and technology contained in"Mozi" has been paid attention to by scholars.Behind the superb Mohist technology,there is still room for further research on its origin and development.In order to better explore the origin of the development of Mohist science and technology,this article is based on the achievements and development characteristics of Mohist science and technology,and analyzed from the following three aspects:the cultural background of Mohist science and technology,the regionality of Mohist science and technology development and the characteristics of Mohist school.The first part introduces the development and dissemination of early science and technology culture by taking the early science and technology classics as the starting point.The formation of early Chinese scientific and technological classics is inseparable from the collection,sorting and compilation of scientific and technological archives.In the official school period,the control and circulation of scientific and technological documents were carried out within the royal official system.However,after the decline of official school,a large amount of scientific and technological documents circulated among the people.Judging from the classics handed down,science and technology are not developed as a separate discipline under the government tradition,but have the characteristics of being mixed.They have always served the rule of the king and the lives of the people,and played an important supporting role in the operation of society.Primitive witchcraft has the same root.In these respects,the development model of Mohist Science and Technology is consistent with the early development of science and technology.In the second part,as one of the scholars in the early Warring States period,Mozi has a close relationship with the scholarship of the king.Judging from the management and spread of pre-Qin science and technology classics,Mozi’s superb craftsmanship is probably inherited from the skills of the ancient royal officials.Take the highest achievement of optics in Mohist science and technology theory as an example.Mozi’s emphasis on light and shadow,and a clear summary and embodiment of the principle of spherical mirror imaging are inseparable from the scientific and technological tradition and application foundation of ancient official school.Mohist Science and Technology is a summary and improvement made on the basis of inheriting official science and technology.The most prominent of Mohist science and technology is hand-manufacturing technology,and the local characteristics of Mohist’s hometown "Lulou culture"and the developed handicraft industry in Qilu have a more direct influence on Mohist science and technology.The third part,combined with the characteristics of the school,analyzes why the Mohist can develop superb science and technology,however,other scholars failed to develop.The Mohist School has obvious pragmatic characteristics in terms of thought and practice,and the organizational structure of the Mohist School also has relatively independent characteristics.This pragmatic characteristic and relatively independent organizational form provide the internal driving force for the development of science and technology of the Mohist school.In order to promote the idea of governing the country,other scholars did not pay enough attention to the technology of the "technical" level,and lacked the inherent motivation for the development of science and technology.So technology has not been fully demonstrated.Under the pre-Qin Taoist debate,rulers attached great importance to the division and development of science and technology.The achievement of a high level of development in ancient Chinese science and technology is an indispensable foundation and background color for the development of Mohist science and technology.Research on the origins of the development of Mohist science and technology will help increase people’s understanding of Mohist science and technology,and have a fuller understanding of the development of ancient Chinese science.This has a positive role in promoting the development of Chinese excellent traditional culture and enhancing cultural self-confidence.What’s more,the exploration of the scientific and technological development of Chinese Mohist school can also have certain enlightening and guiding significance for the development of science today.
