Research On The Combination Of Surrealism Painting Language And Kant’s Interpretations Of "Sensibility" And "Understanding"

Surrealism is a modern western school of literature and art,which advocates surpassing the conventional reality and common experience of the objective world and seeking absolute reality which is detached from the external reality and internal reality and is not restricted by aesthetics,experience,morality and other conditions.It aims to show the deep psychological world of human beings in the form of literature and art.Surrealism started from literature,but it has a far-reaching influence in the field of visual art,among which the painting language of surrealism works especially reflects the distinctive styles and strong personalities.Immanuel Kant(1724-1804),the founder of German classical philosophy,pointed out the dilemma of metaphysics in the preface to the first edition of The Critique of Pure Reason.Kant believed that neither complete rationalism nor complete empiricism was conducive to the development of science.Therefore,he proposed that human cognition(Erkenntnis)had two main trunk,namely,sensibility(Sinnlichkeit)and understanding(Verstand).Through the former the objects are given to us,and through the latter they are thought.This thesis focuses on the theoretical research and practical creation of the ceramic painting "The Eternal Continuous Tense" series of works.In terms of theory,the above mentioned concepts which also involved in this subject are selected to be studied in depth,on a practical level,ceramic painting works are the final expression form of creation practice.Surrealism painting language will be used as as the expression of the creation,at the same time,the theme and content of the work are more derived from Kant’s concepts of "sensibility" and "understanding" as well as their extensions.After identifying those two things of subject creation,the steps of conception,design,implementation will lead to the final ceramic creation products.From surrealism painting to Kant’s philosophy,interdisciplinary inquiry occupies an important position in this subject,which can bring the creators a deeper academic inquiry,a new transformation of theoretical perspective and a further expansion of creative thinking and other benefits.In addition,after the completion of the preliminary theoretical understanding and creative conception,the final practice in painting is also required.Therefore,after the completion of the different stages of the project,in addition to the transformation of the painting itself,the renewal and broadening of the perspective of thinking and the change of artistic understanding are also contained in it.In terms of the gestation of artistic works,the author’s cognition,grasp and treatment of the theoretical concept in the early stage,and the anticipation,configuration and implementation of the creative practice in the later stage all affect the final appearance of the finished product.
