Research On The Character Image Shaping Strategy In Contemporary Character Documentaries

The core value of character documentary film is “People”,which reveals the true real-life status of the characters,reflects the true emotions and humanistic spirits.According to contemporary domestic and foreign sources of videos and literatures,this paper takes the character documentary film as the subject of study,and outlines the theoretical methodology of the characterization strategy.Moreover,with the attempts and exploration of characterization shown in the graduation project documentary,Craftsmanship,this paper also aims to summarize a relatively complete strategy of characterization,in order to provide a reference for current and future creation of character documentaries.This paper is divided into three sections: The first section mainly outlines the domestic and foreign literature about the characterization strategy in the character documentary.In the meanwhile,we attempt to summarize the concept and classification of the character documentary,and extract the elements of the character shaping strategy through the literature,film and television sources,so as to pave the way for the following systematic discussion.The second part analyzes the construction dimensions of character images from three aspects,namely,environment,behavior and events.In the last section,we analyze the image technique of characterization from picture perspectives such as scenes,colors,images,as well as sound perspectives such as actual sound,voice-over and background music.To analyze character image construction dimension and the image technique,combined with the graduation project documentary,Craftmanship,we would then explain how we relate the character shaping strategies summarized above with the graduation project,and apply them to the actual creation of documentary films.In the conclusion section,this paper refines the method of portraying the character image in the character documentary films.Hence,through the study explained in this paper,we can find that with the help of diversified characterization methods,directors can show the characters in the contemporary character documentary,and well reflect the spirit of the characters.
