A Morphological Study Of Xue Li’s Legend Of Conquering The East

Folk legends are usually created by People’s imagination around specific characters,places and historical events.They bear the tradition of local narration and reflect people’s real historical feelings.Xue Li’s exploits were first recorded in a collection of historical biographies,and later became widely known throughout the country through various forms of interpretation,including novels,dramas and operas.The local people,while accepting the heroic images of Xue Li,also combined with historical sites,local customs and traditions to compile and tell more colorful legends of the conquest of the east,reflects the local people’s emotional identification with the events of Xue Li’s crusade.This paper is divided into three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The first part mainly elaborates the research goal,the significance,the theory method as well as the innovation spot and the insufficiency and so on.The text is divided into four chapters.The first chapter introduces the historical and cultural background of the formation of the legend of Xue Li,based on the theory of “Legend Circle”by Yanagita Kunio,this paper divides the spreading characteristics of the legend of Xue Li’s conquest to the east,which can be divided into the point-shaped gathering mainly in Hejin,where Xue Li was born,and the surrounding area The net-like distribution of Beijing,Hebei,Shandong and other places through which the war was fought,and the dispersion flow of Liaodong and its surrounding areas,based on this,this paper analyzes the similarities and differences of the contents of the legends of Xue Li’s conquest of the east in different regions and the reasons.In the second chapter,based on the specific content of the legend of Xue Li’s expedition to the east,the scattered legends of Xue Li’s expedition to the east are divided into different types according to the narrative plots and themes,they are mainly divided into three types: the one with the theme of hero growing up,the one with the theme of warrior rising,the one with the theme of wind and things gathering,the one with the theme of hero leaving traces and naming in memory,the one with the theme of conquering wars,the one with the help of Immortals,and the one with the theme of opening holes and getting treasure,on this basis,the author discusses the cultural connotation of each type of legend and the cultural psychological tendency of the people,and understands the organization,construction and narrative features of the content of the legend of Xue Li’s conquest of the east in different regions,therefore,it provides the basis of the text content for the study of the narrative form and structure of legends.The third chapter discusses the shape and structure of the legend of Xue Li,mainly from the legend of the narrative turn,the role of action circle and narrative functions,such as detailed interpretation of the legend.By dividing the narrative sequence of the legend of Xue Li,combining the elements of the narrative structure of the legend,namely,the core noun,the common noun,the verb element and the plot unit,etc.,to sum up the law of variation of the legend of Xue Li’s crusade.Secondly,by analyzing the similarities and differences in narrative structure between legends and stories,combining the “Functional elements”and “State elements”in stories,to understand the social concept,local identity and the mentality of the people behind the legend through the narrative of the nominal element and the choice of the verbal element.Finally,combining the morphological theory of roles and functional items summarized by Vladimir Propp,this paper analyzes the functional narrative of the legendary sequence of roles and action circles in the legends of Xue Li’s expedition to the east.Chapter Four,on the basis of the above-mentioned interpretation of the narrative elements of the legend of Xue Li’s expedition to the east,further discusses the narrative rules of the legend of Xue Li’s expedition to the east,mainly divided into the priority of interpretation,that is,focusing on the interpretation of events or a landscape;Secondly,narrative integrity,through the addition of narrative elements of legend can improve the narrative process,eliminate the protagonist encountered the“Lack”state,and finally,the in the region.The conclusion summarizes the research contents of the above four chapters,discusses the relations and differences between the research paradigm of story morphology and legend morphology,and understands the significance of the study of legend morphology.In this paper,the main research object is the text of the legend of Xue Li’s expedition to the east,combined with the story of the expedition to the east contained in the popular literature,with the help of the theories and methods of morphology,narratology,cultural anthropology,etc.,this paper probes into the narrative type,plot pedigree,cultural connotation and modern significance of the legend of Xue Li’s expedition to the east.Xue Li conquered the east many times,and finally recaptured the land of Liaodong successfully,not only defending the integrity of China’s territory and territory,but also showing the integrity of the Chinese nation in resisting foreign enemies,therefore,it is of great practical significance and cultural value to study the formation,spread and narrative mechanism of the legend of Xue Li.
