| Language testing is an important means to measure and test the effectiveness of language teaching.The New Chinese Proficiency Test(New HSK)is an important language testing method for professional grade assessment of Chinese at home and abroad.It aims to comprehensively evaluate the learning ability and level of Chinese learners whose mother tongue is not Chinese,and to examine how they will apply the knowledge gained to different fields.At the same time,the development of language testing will have a certain adverse effect on language learning and teaching and other aspects as well,which is defined as “washback”by academia.Up till now,the research scope of backwash effects at home and abroad is positioned on large-scale English tests,and the research focus is rarely targeted on the new HSK.Therefore,guided by the backwash theory in language testing theory,with the help of research-related tools such as questionnaires and interview outlines,using a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods,this research was carried out in Shenyang.The research objects are the international students and several teachers of Chinese as a foreign language in the International Students Institute of universities in Shenyang.It focuses on the two steps of student learning and teacher teaching to explore the impact of the new HSK4 listening test on both.Through investigation and analysis,this study found that the impact of the new HSK4 listening test on students’ learning is higher than the impact of the test on teachers’ teaching.It is worth mentioning that the new HSK4 listening test has both positive and negative backwash effects on both,and the positive backwash effects are greater than the negative backwash effects.The specific research content of this article is as follows: The first part introduces the background and significance of the topic selection,sorts out the language test theory and the literature related to the new HSK test,and organizes the backwash effect theoretical framework.The second part focuses on the new HSK4 listening test and explores the requirements and development process of the new HSK4 listening test.The third part is to carry out the survey design of the impact of the new HSK 4 listening test on teaching and learning,integrate the questionnaire and interview data,and analyze the reliability and validity.The fourth part analyzes the impact of the new HSK 4 listening test on students and teachers,the specific positive and negative backwash effects and related influencing factors.The fifth part is to try to weaken the negative backwash effect of the new HSK4 listening test,strengthen the positive backwash effect of the new HSK4 listening test,and put forward countermeasures to maximize the effectiveness of the new HSK4 listening test,Test system,teaching system,social system and give suggestions.The sixth part summarizes the research results,points out the limitations and future research directions. |
