This translation practice report selects Chapter One,Chapter Two and Chapter Six of Mineral Resources,Economics and the Environment as the source text.The book introduces the mining,status quo of mineral resources and the influence on the economy and environment.Five chapters are included in this report.The first chapter is about the translation task.The second chapter is an introduction of the translation task,which describes the contents of the source text,the language features of the source text and the translation strategies and tells readers that why the translator chooses the text.The original text is a scientific text about geology,which aims to convey the knowledge related to geology to the readers.In addition,there are many nominalization structures in the source text.The third chapter introduces the translation process,including preparations for translation,preliminary translation,proofreading and polishing.The fourth chapter is a case study,which is based on communicative translation theory and translation shifts theory and focuses on the translation of long and difficult sentences and nominalization.The fifth chapter is a conclusion of this project,which describes the achievements and shortcomings of the translation task.
