Bowlby’s Argument Of The Biological Basis Of Attachment And Its Significance

Since John Bowlby systematically proposed the attachment theory,attachment has been studied in various fields extensively,which has expanded the connotation of attachment to a certain extent.Inspired by ethology,Bowlby revealed the nature of attachment from the perspective of biological basis,and thus defined the concept of attachment.Thus investigating animal behavior as the biological basis of attachment has important historical value and practical theoretical significance for understanding the essence of Bowlby’s attachment theory.Centering on the biological basis of attachment,this article reviews the rise of the concept of attachment firstly.Then,in order to explain the biological basis of attachment,the paper introduces the proposition of ecology and its influence on Bowlby’s thought.Then the article explains the content of the biological basis of attachment.Finally,it analyzes the significance of Bowlby’s argument of the biological basis of attachment.This significance is reflected in the promotion of the formation of attachment theory and the understanding of individual socialization,as well as several directions that can be paid attention to for future attachment research.
