| This report is based on the author’s E-C SI of the online lecture “Toward a Musicology of Interfaces” given by Dolan,an Associate Professor at Brown University. After the interpreting practice, the author transcribed the recording into texts and wrote this report.Based on the cohesion theory, this report finds that cohesive problems mainly lie in the interpreting of conjunctions through the analysis of the target texts.Typical examples related to interpreting conjunctions are selected to analyze, and the author summarizes three problems in the process of SI: redundancy, incorrectness and lack of conjunctions.Correspondingly, three strategies are put forward to deal with cohesive problems in the course of interpreting: omission, alternation, amplification. The cohesion of the target language can be improved in the discourse by adopting three strategies, which can help to guarantee interpreting quality. It is hoped that the cohesive problems and coping strategies discussed in this report can provide reference for other interpreting learners. |
