A Study On The Reindustrialization Policy Of Cameron Government In Britain(2010-2016)

The reindustrialization policy of the Cameron government in Britain refers to a series of measures to revive manufacturing industry implemented by the Cameron government in2010-2016 to deal with the imbalance of the UK economy.As a traditional manufacturing country,Britain experienced "deindustrialization" after 1980 s.In 2008,the financial crisis exposed the imbalance of the British economy so that the importance of manufacturing industry was prominent.The British government attached the importance of the manufacturing industry and began to implement some measures to restore the status of manufacturing industry.It can be said that through understanding the policy of the British government of re industrialization,we can clearly outline the whole picture of the reindustrialization of the UK in this period and the UK’s action to deal with the crisis.The main content and the main content of this paper are the actions that Britain has taken to restore manufacturing industry in the face of the imbalance between finance and manufacturing industry.Therefore,this paper attempts to study the opportunities and challenges encountered by manufacturing industry when Cameron came to power,the concept basis of British re industrialization policy,the concrete content of the British reindustrialization policy and the characteristics and evaluation of the British reindustrialization policy.The decline of British manufacturing has been going on for a long time.From the second industrial revolution,the British manufacturing industry began to lose its comparative advantage,to the decline of most traditional manufacturing industry in the UK after World War II,and then to the "deindustrialization" of Thatcher government,the British economy fell into the imbalance between manufacturing industry and finance.But the global financial crisis of 2008 exposed the imbalance of the British economy,which made people realize the importance of manufacturing.At this time,the world began to regain manufacturing industry and strive to gain a place in the fourth industrial revolution.At the beginning of Cameron’s administration,Cameron government inherited the idea that the last New Labor government attached importance to manufacturing,and began a series of measures to try to restore the British manufacturing industry.The coalition government and the successor conservative government continued neoliberalism and regained Keynesianism,and they have taken action in four aspects: skills,technological innovation,manufacturing supply chain,foreign investment and export.First,in terms of skills,the British government first determined the national skills strategy,on this basis,from 2010,it has set up a large number of University Technical Colleges and improved the system of continuing education;In terms of vocational education,the British government has perfected the apprenticeship system favored by previous governments;In addition,the UK government has launched activities to promote STEM education in the UK.Second,science and technology is the top priority in the measures of British reindustrialization.The UK government needs key technologies for the development of British manufacturing industry,and increases R & D investment,and finally builds High Value Manufacuring Catapult to commercialize technology.Third,in order to maintain the competitiveness of manufacturing in the UK,manufacturing supply chain must be attached importance to.Therefore,the British government has solved this problem from innovation and technology,supply chain enterprise financing and support of small and medium manufacturing supply chain enterprises.Fourth,in order to revive the British manufacturing industry,the British government has made some efforts to introduce foreign investment and promote the export of manufacturing industry.Finally,through the comparison of the measures of Reindustrialization and the measures to revive manufacturing industry with the New Labour government,the paper analyzes three characteristics of the policy of reindustrialization,namely,the advanced manufacturing industry is the main,and the small and medium-sized enterprises are more emphasized and servitization of manufacturing is appeared.At the same time,the paper analyzes whether the British government’s redustrialization policy works in the Cameron period from the short and long-term perspectives.
