| Words are a crucial part of English learning.In primary school,students are just beginning to get in touch with English,so cultivating interest is the key.If he encounters difficulties in learning words,it will affect his motivation to learn English,which will have a long-term impact.Phonics is a kind of English learning method suitable for beginners.This method integrates the pronunciation and spelling of words,and finally enables students to achieve the goal of reading words and listening to sounds,and writing them,which is corresponding to the requirement for primary students of English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education: "can read out simple words according to the spelling rules",and "understand the simple spelling rules".Studies abroad show that phonics has a positive effect on students’ English learning.However,for domestic students,there was insufficient research on whether phonics has an impact on English word learning and whether the impact is the same for different students.Therefore,the research questions raised in the study are: 1.What is the influence of phonics on the ability of senior pupils to see and read words? 2.What is the influence of phonics on the listening and writing ability of senior pupils? 3.What are the influences of phonics on the word memorizing in class,the next day,and a week later of senior pupils?To explore the influence of phonics in the primary school senior pupils’ level of word spelling and memorizing,this research takes the students of grade six of Dingtao C school which belongs to Heze,Shandong province,as the research object.At the same time,it carries on the study with the method of quantitative.Before the experiment,pretests about word spelling and memorizing are carried.After 11 weeks of a phonics teaching experiment,tests ware conducted which are corresponding to the contents of the pretest.Finally,at the base of the data collection and analysis,the experiment draws the following conclusions: 1.Phonics has a positive influence on the reading ability of senior pupils.2.Phonics has a positive influence on the listening and writing ability of senior pupils,but the influence degree is different for students with different learning levels.3.Phonics has a positive influence on the word memorizing of senior pupils,but it has different effects on students with different learning levels.For students with high learning level,the influence is not great.For students with lower learning level,phonics helps them to remember words in the short term as well as the next day and a week later.This study summarizes the enlightenment of phonics word teaching in the senior grade of primary school,and gives some teaching suggestions for teachers’ reference: 1.Use various teaching methods to present phonics;2.Make full use of the knowledge transfer to aid memory;3.Set stratified teaching objectives and take different evaluations in phonics teaching;4.Review in time with phonics to strengthen memory;5.Set up the teaching objectives of phonics in compulsory education.This research enriches the application theory of phonics in China.At the same time,in the experiment,the students are divided into different categories,and the knowledge of phonics is taught according to the students’ reality,which cultivates the students’ phoneme awareness,and provides some reference for the teachers’ teaching practice of phonics. |
