Research On Color Narration In The Fiction Of Shen Congwen

Narration is to reproduce events through language or other media.Color,as an artistic medium,can trigger visual senses when entering literary creation and connect the inner feelings of reader,playing a role of speech in literature.Therefore,color can play a role of narration in literary works.In the fiction of Shen Congwen,many implicit emotions are expressed through the outline of color,and color has become one of the unique narrative tools in his fiction creation.This paper systematically sorts out and studies the color words in the fiction of Shen Congwen,and tries to reconstruct the literary creation scene as much as possible through the methods of historical data collection,literature synthesis and text close reading,so as to appreciate the literary view of Shen Congwen,aesthetic view and outlook on life behind his words.At the same time,combining combine the color theory,narration theory and psychological theory and folk theory,this paper analyzes the narrative function of color words in the fiction of Shen Congwen,and understands the creative way of creation.This paper is mainly divided into six parts:The introduction focuses on tracing the origin.Color is a fine arts term.As one of the important elements of fine arts,why does color appear repeatedly in the fiction of Shen Congwen and become a unique and important means of his artistic creation and expression?This requires us to explore the causes of the formation of this literary phenomenon from different levels and different perspectives.The author will expatiate from three angles:the influence of national customs,the edification of traditional painting art and the creation consciousness of writers.Chapter one,Chapter two,Chapter three and Chapter four combine the color theory,narration theory and psychological theory,focus on the narrative function of color,connect with specific text,and discuss from four perspectives of character shaping,background symbolism,structure setting and theme implication,to explore and explain the role of color in text.The first chapter,starting from the perspective of character shaping by color,summarizes and classifies the colors involved in the characters’ clothing,personality and psychology in the fiction based on the specific text.Color words with different meanings endow characters with colors in clothing,personality and psychology,embellishing the emotions without colors with colors,and running through characters with ease and leeway.The second chapter,from the perspective of background depiction,reflects on the unique background depiction of Shen Congwen and the metaphorical symbol behind it.The multiple life experience of Shen Congwen is hidden in the human and natural landscape woven by multiple colors,such as green and white,red and black interwoven,black and gray overlapping,and the contrast of colors and the juxtaposition of cold and warm colors.Or clouds,clouds,sunset,or Xiangxi frontier land,beach apartment,they are the objective existence,but by the personification,subjective location col or,show the writer’s creative idea of originality.The third chapter mainly analyzes how Shen Congwen uses color to adjust the narrative rhythm,expression change,depth,amplitude and so on in the setting of novel structure.From the three aspects of free prose culture structure,the creation of virtual space and the promotion of plot development as the breakthrough point,this paper explores the role of color as a meaningful form in breaking the boundary between styles,transforming different situations and promoting the deepening of plots.The fourth chapter explores the interaction and mutual verification between color(form)freehand brushwork and theme(content)in the fiction of Shen Congwen.The pursuit of nature and humanity runs through the writings.In his pen,the colorful life through light and shadow,the beauty of life,the beauty of divinity is presented through color.At the same time,Shen Congwen is in the tide of collision and alternation between modern civilization and traditional culture,and at the intersection of revolution and war turbulence.The world shrouded by modernity presents different colors and modes in his works.Taking color as the starting point to enter his works can help us better understand the dimension of his observation of the world and human feelings.The conclusion part summarizes the research characteristics of this paper,integrates and reveals the overall characteristics of color application in his fictions,understands,feels and gets close to the most real soul and emotion of Shen Congwen,and highlights the uniqueness of his creation.
