Language teaching and culture teaching are two very important factors in teaching Chinese as a foreign language,but the current situation of textbooks compilation related to culture teaching is not optimistic.Among them,the contents of myths,legends and folktales,which bear the excellent spiritual gene of the Chinese nation,embody the thinking,knowledge,wisdom and spirit of the Chinese nation,is particularly rare.These contents are close to life,meaningful and interesting,which can attract students’ attention and enhance their interest in learning,and is conducive to the spread of Chinese culture.This article investigates the myths,legends and folktales in the two classic series of textbooks,Road to Success and Developing Chinese,and studies the basis and situation of their arrangement in the textbooks for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.This article holds that it is of special significance to incorporate these contents into textbooks.The introduction part of this article mainly states the background and significance of this article,the related definition and research review of myths,legends and folktales,the research object,research content and methods of this article.In the second chapter,based on the arrangement of myths,legends and folktales in the textbooks for teaching Chinese as a foreign language,and expounds their educational significance from the perspective of language acquisition,cross-cultural communication and cultural communication;based on Liu Xun’s five principles for compiling textbooks for teaching Chinese as a foreign language,this article investigates the myths,legends and folktales in Road to Success and Developing Chinese.The third chapter takes the textbooks of Developing Chinese and Road to Success as examples,and makes a material analysis and data statistics on myths,legends and folktales from the perspective of subject types and cultural connotation types,The article investigates the distribution and statistical classification of the relevant contents involved in the textbooks,and analyze their presentation.The fourth chapter is the analysis of the arrangement of myths,legends and folktales in the textbooks for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.According to the investigation results of Developing Chinese and Road to Success in the previous article,find out the layout problems of myths,legends and folktales in length,vocabulary,difficulty and cultural connotation.The fifth chapter according to the investigation and analysis of Developing Chinese and Road to Success in the previous article,and referring to the International Curriculum for Chinese Language Teaching,puts forward some suggestions on the arrangement of myths,legends and folktales in the textbooks for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The conclusion,summarizes the contents and views of the article,and expresses the prospect for the future.
