The original text of the translation report is an excerpt from the Beijing Language Service Center For Cultural Trade’s Going Global:Shanghai Cultural and Creative Trade. And it is composed of 70 publicity texts introducing the current development of Shanghai’s cultural trade. The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce entrusted the Beijing Language Service Center For Cultural Trade to write a series of brochures to increase the influence of cultural trade suppliers in overseas markets, especially the emerging markets involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. And the total number of words of the excerpt is about 12,275.The translation report is based on Nord’s functionalist translation theory.Oriented to the target readers,it focuses on the purpose of translation, and strives to meet the translation requirements of the foreign publicity texts. This translation report is mainly divided into four chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to the original text. The second chapter analyzes the translation process, including translation preparation, difficulties in translation, and proofreading. The third chapter is a case study. The translator analyzes specific cases in detail based on Nord’s functional translation theory. The fourth chapter is the conclusion, introducing the translator’s gains and reflections in translation,as well as the limitations and suggestions for future translation. And the case study is the focus of this translation report. It mainly explains the important and difficult points in translation and how to complete the translation task under the guidance of functionalist theory from the lexical level and the syntactic level.Among them, the important and difficult points at the lexical level include book titles, names of official documents, companies and institutions names as well as culturally loaded words. At the syntactic level, the main questions are long sentences, sentence structure with Chinese characteristics and rhetoric.During translation, the translator tries to coordinate the differences between Chinese and English expressions, and improves the readability of the translation,in order to achieve the goal that the target text can exist independently of the original text, and finally meet the requirements of Chinese culture "going global".
