The National Opera "Yimeng Mountains’ premiered on December 18,2018 at the Shandong Song and Dance Theatre.The play is adapted from the elements of Chinese opera and the musical elements of Shandong Folk Song "Yimeng Mountain Minor".It is easy for the audience to empathize.I had the honor to see the first scene of the play,from the theater out of the audience tears,"Xia he" this role seems to grow into my heart.In the play,"Xia he" is a flesh-and-blood female soldier of the Eighth Route Army,and she is also an excellent mezzo-soprano.She sings in the play deeply moving,and the core Aria of "Xia he" has three passages,as a mezzo-soprano role,the proportion of the Arias is higher than that of the previous mezzo-soprano roles.This paper makes a detailed analysis of the creation of Yimeng Mountains,the character of Xia he,the image of Xia he,and the three core Arias in the play.The female characters represented by Xia he embody the great female spirits in the course of the anti-japanese war in Yimeng mountains:selfless maternal love,firm belief,fearless sacrifice in the face of the enemy and self-sacrifice in the face of choice.
