Education Informatization 2.0 is changing the modes of education with information technology,promoting educational reform,and giving impetus to the development of educational modernization and teachers’ information literacy.At the same time,the constantly evolving economic and technological situation challenges traditional thinking and methods of teaching and learning,raising new requirements for teachers’ information literacy.In this context,this study investigated the current situation of senior high school English teachers’ information literacy and explored the strategies for improving senior high school English teachers’ information literacy.Based on the constructivism theory and the connectivism theory,this study tries to answer the following questions:(1)What is the current situation of English teachers’ information literacy in senior high schools?(2)What are the factors that influence the development of senior high school English teachers’ information literacy?(3)What strategies could be carried out to promote English teachers’ information literacy?To answer the above questions,this study surveyed 10 senior high schools in Zhanjiang,Guangdong Province,from which 102 English teachers were invited as the research participants.The electronic questionnaires,classroom observations and interviews were conducted in the survey.Based on the results,it can be found that most senior high schools’ English teachers in Zhanjiang already have a good sense of information knowledge and basic information awareness.However,teachers performed differently in the aspects of pedagogical information competence and the use of information technology in teaching process.Although teachers have basic knowledge of information literacy,the practical information ability and skills are not fully grasped and used by teachers in daily teaching.The results of the questionnaire suggest that the main influencing factors on improving teachers’ information literacy include school’s informational construction teachers’ willingness to develop information literacy.Meanwhile,the interview results from representative teachers also suggest that government and school’s support to develop teachers’ information literacy also plays an important role.Thus,to develop teachers’ information literacy,English teachers themselves should actively learn and apply information technology in teacher ability training,classroom teaching to improve their information ability and interest.Relevant government departments and schools should pay full attention to the development of teacher information literacy in the teacher evaluation system and training program,so as to create a good information literacy cultivation environment for senior high school English teachers.At the same time,senior high schools should emphasize the introduction of information technology into campus activities to ensure that the campus information facilities are sufficient and functioning well.Also,relevant government departments should provide favorable policies and financial support for senior high school informatization construction.
