Left-behind children,as a special group concerned by the society,their mental health has also attracted attention from all sectors of society.Especially the left-behind junior high school students who have just entered adolescence,although the physical and psychological development has been faster than the primary school,but compared with high school students,the physical and psychological is still not too mature,and the level of mental health is lower.As one of the main interpersonal relationships in the study and life of left-behind junior high school students,peer relationship will certainly have an impact on their mental health.In addition,the emotional characteristics of left-behind children are also affected by peer relationship,and emotional characteristics are closely related to mental health.Therefore,this study mainly explores the influence of peer relationship on the mental health of left-behind junior high school students and the mediating role of their emotions.In this study,346 students from two rural junior high schools in Anyang city were tested by using the Peer Relationship Questionnaire,Positive and Negative Affection Scale and Middle School Mental Health Scale.Statistical analysis methods such as anova and multiple regression were used to process the data.In order to understand the left-behind junior high school students perceived peer relationship and emotional impact on mental health,at the same time,the gender,grade and other demographic variables in the differences in these three variables.On this basis,this paper analyzes the mediating role of emotion in the process of peer relationship affecting mental health of left-behind junior high school students.Result:(1)There are significant differences in gender and grade in mental health of left behind junior middle school students.The scores of mental health of left behind junior middle school students in Grade 7 and 8 are significantly higher than those in Grade 9,and the mental health level of female students is significantly higher than that of male students;The results show that there are significant differences in the grade of the left behind junior middle school students’ peer relationship.The score of the seventh and ninth grade left behind junior middle school students is lower than that of the eighth grade left behind junior middle school students;There was no significant difference in gender and grade of emotion;(2)Peer relationship positively predicted mental health and positive emotions,and negatively predicted negative emotions;Positive emotions significantly positively predict mental health,while negative emotions significantly negatively predict mental health;(3)The mediating path of positive emotion and negative emotion in the influence of peer relationship on mental health is significant.It is concluded that the mental health level of left-behind junior middle school students is different in different grades and gender,and the peer relationship is different in different grades;the peer relationship of left behind junior high school students can not only directly and significantly predict mental health,but also indirectly predict mental health through the mediating role of positive and negative emotions.
