Language learning needs a lot of input.Reading teaching is one of the important contents of junior high school English teaching.However,the current reading teaching has been unsatisfactory.Under the influence of the traditional teaching method,many English teachers in our country still adopt the same teaching method to the students.In the daily teaching,they only emphasize the problems of English vocabulary,structure,grammar and pronunciation,but ignore the cultivation of students’ reading comprehension ability.This makes most students feel that the classroom is boring,and of course,they can’ t cultivate reading interest and improve reading ability.This makes teachers need to find a new teaching method to improve students’ reading interest,and then improve students’ reading ability and level.As a visual tool,mind map can attract students’ attention.By using key words,pictures and colors,teachers can cultivate students’ divergent thinking,and then cultivate students’ interest in reading.This study attempts to apply mind map to junior high school English reading teaching to verify its effectiveness as a teaching tool.This research mainly aims to explore two questions: the first one is what effects the application of mind map to English reading teaching in junior high school has on students’ reading interest? The second one is that what the effect of using mind map is on students’ ability to search for detailed information in English Reading Teaching in junior high school?In this study,two parallel classes of Grade 8 in Hanzhuang Junior High School of Hengshui were selected as the research subjects.The whole research process lasted one semester.The experimental group was taught English reading by using mind map,while the control group was taught by using traditional English reading method.Then the author collects data through questionnaires and tests.The author uses a questionnaire to study whether mind map can stimulate students’ interest in reading,and through the experimental method of testing to study the influence of mind map-assisted English reading teaching in junior high school on students’ ability to search for details.According to the results of the questionnaire,we can know that mind map can stimulate students’ interest in English reading teaching in junior high school.The data collected after the experiment shows that the performance of the students in the experimental class where mind map is used to teach English reading is significantly higher than that of the students in the control class.According to the test results,mind map can help students improve their ability to search for details quickly in the process of reading.
