| Teaching Chinese characters has always been the key and difficult point in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, especially to students in non-Chinese culture. In actual classroom, teachers mainly explain Chinese characters in component teaching or whole character teaching, there is lacking of stroke teaching,so that there may be some bias errors in stroke for Chinese beginners outside Chinese character culture, which will run through the whole study process. If the bias error on stroke in the initial period is not found and corrected in time, there is no doubt that the study process in the intermediate and advanced stages will be lagged, and it will also influence the study effect of Chinese character. Therefore,I take the analysis of errors in stroke writing of Philippine Chinese learning beginners as my research subject, making analysis of the stroke errors based on collected materials.Through induction and classification,it is concluded that the main types of stroke errors for Philippine Chinese beginners include errors in stroke appearance, the relationship among strokes, number of strokes, order of strokes and the connection and disconnection among strokes. Then the reasons for such errors will be explained from the subjective and objective aspects. The subjective reasons are consist of students’ learning motivation and attitude, learning strategies, negative transfer of mother tongue and excessive generalization of target language knowledge. The objective reasons are discussed from the characteristics of stroke itself and the factors of learning environment. Then, several effective stroke teaching strategies and teaching methods will be summarised. It it hoped that this paper will provide some teaching suggestions for future Chinese volunteers and Chinese teachers in the Philippines in teaching Chinese characters and strokes. |
