Alejandro Gonz(?)lez I(?)rritu(1963-)is a Mexican director,screenwriter,editor and producer.Since his debut novel Amores perros in 2001,his films have attracted much attention because of their cross-cultural and regional connotations and unique artistic style(he won the best director Oscar for Birdman and The Revenant twice in2016 / 2017).Focusing on his representative works,this paper makes a comprehensive study of I(?)rritu’s films from the perspectives of theme,narrative strategy and audiovisual language.First,on the theme level,I(?)rritu’s films are full of humanism color,and show a deep and depressing theme style,which pays close attention to the living conditions of human beings for a long time.On the basis of depicting all kinds of human life,they show the cruelty and embarrassment of human struggle by magnifying the contradictory situations in real life,so as to achieve the shaking effect.Therefore,it is profound and thought-provoking to criticize the situation of human existence.Second,I(?)rritu experienced the development process from Mexico to the United States and then into Hollywood.He has made outstanding contributions to the exploration of the diversity of narrative methods with multi-dimensional integrated narrative perspective.He is good at using nonlinear narrative methods,the orderly plot context and compact narrative rhythm are the highlights of his narrative art.Thirdly,at the level of audiovisual language,the image style of I(?)rritu ’s films is natural and profound,"the picture has a strong sense of grain".In his creative practice,he always pays attention to the reproduction of the reality of the scene and the creation of the scene atmosphere,generating strong documentary features and dynamic expression effect.In addition,the challenge to long shot segments and the use of unique motion shots make the film unique avant-garde.The director of I(?)rritu,who is still in the active period of creation,is obviously far from stopping in his exploration of film concept and artistic expression.Therefore,the analysis and exploration of his works,and to provide reference for domestic film creation,is also "on the road".
