As an on-site practice report on English –Chinese consecutive interpreting in the aviation field, this report describes one task conducted by the author for the Y8F200 aircrafts maintenance interpreting work during the period from September 30,2018 to July 20,2019 in Tanzania. The report analyzes the on-site interpreting work during the period of troubleshooting to discuss common difficulties of English-Chinese without text as well as possible theoretical knowledge, coping strategies and solutions.Reviewing the whole interpreting task process, the report can be divided into five parts: speaker?s accent,on-site interpreting without note-taking,speaker?s logic barriers,on-site understanding obstacles,on-site emergencies, from which typical examples are selected from original laguage and author?s interpreting for comparation and further analysis. In the chapter of case study, some typical examples are selected from interpreting considering the factor of consecutive interpreting without the text, from the following perspectives: familiarity with African pronunciation rules and accent,short-term memory practicing, logic clarifying, contextualizing and resilience practicingThrough the task analysis and description,it is found that the pre-interpreting preparation is so important, which directly influences the interpreting process.Besides,it is recommended that interpreting strategies as “source language understanding,transcodage,re-output” should be taken for some on-site emergencies. Finally,it is necessary for the interpreter to summarize and reflect after the task and then it will help the interpreter to find their own problems and produce high qualified interpretation in subsequent interpreting tasks. The author hopes that this report will provide a reference for follow-up studies in the field of aviation interpreting.
