With the rapid development of China’s economy and the increasing wealth of the Chinese people,overseas investment has become a hot topic,especially the investment in Australian real estate market due to its preferential housing policies,good natural environment,abundant educational resources and low immigration threshold.So,in real estate advertisement E-C translation is in demand in Australia.This practice report is written based on the E-C translation materials for Belle Property magazine from 2017 to 2018.Before the translation,the author finds that the source text has the following characteristics: First,this text is syntactically quite simple;Secondly,lexically,there is a big number of abbreviations,professional terms,proper nouns and adjective modifiers.The large number of proper nouns and some abstract adjective modifiers bring difficulties to the author’s translation.In addition,other difficulties include the differences of geographical environment,lifestyle,laws and regulations between China and Australia,which require the author to consult relevant materials.In view of this,the author chooses Skopos Theory as the guiding theory and adopts corresponding translation strategies for the difficulties mentioned above.For proper nouns,the author uses literal translation method,transference translation method,sound translation method and combination of sound and sense method;for some abstract adjectives,the author adopts free translation method,amplification method and translation conversion method;for the differences of geographical environment and lifestyle,the author adopts the annotation method,and the difference of laws and regulations is solved through the use of interpretation method.The author’s goal is to try to make the target text faithful to the source text with fluent expressions,hoping to arouse the interest of readers’ house purchase.At the same time,the author hopes that this translation practice report can provide some enlightenment or reference for future translators in this field.
