Compared with reading and writing skills,listening is the most difficult and weak link in language teaching.However,in the listening teaching,the traditional listening teaching ignores the differences of students and the guidance during the whole process and pays little attention to the listening process.It can be seen that the traditional teaching mode is difficult to adapt itself to the needs of basic education curriculum reform.The individualistic teaching of listening is based on the differences of the student’s personalities and uses the individualistic teaching methods and strategies to guide the teaching of listening.It makes up for the shortcomings of the traditional listening teaching mode.Therefore,this study aims at the current situation of individualistic listening teaching and attempts to explore the problems existing in individualistic English listening teaching,so as to understand the factors affecting it in senior high schools,and finally proposes corresponding countermeasures to solve the problems,ultimately aiming at improving the students’ listening ability.Based on the Humanistic Theory and the Multiple Intelligence Theory,500 students from a school in Hengyang City,Hunan Province are selected as the study objects.By using the methods of literature review,questionnaire survey,interview and case analysis.This study finds the problems existing in the individualistic teaching of high school English listening,on the basis of analyzing the reasons and factors and discussing how to implement the individualistic listening teaching.This study will focus on the following three questions.First,what is the current situation of individualized English listening teaching in this school?Second,what are the deep factors influencing the individualistic teaching of high school English listening? Third,how to implement individualistic listening teaching in practice guided by the Humanistic Theory and the Multiple Intelligence Theory?This thesis selects a high school in Hengyang City of Hunan Province to have all the senior grade two students and the English teachers in the school surveyed and interviewed respectively.First,this thesis uses the questionnaire to investigate the students’ interest in English learning habits and the enthusiasm of learning English,as well as their attitudes towards the current listening teaching,and then it extracts some different levels of students and all the English teachers,so as to interview students and teachers respectively,attempting to understand how the teachers and students treat the individualistic English listening.Then the study randomly selects two classes taught by a teacher to carry out the experiment.During the experiment,the teaching mode and teaching contents of the two classes are the same,butthe model of teaching are different.The traditional class carries on the traditional listening practice,while the experimental class designs the individualistic listening teaching based on the Humanistic Theory and the Multiple Intelligence Theory.After the experiment,the students of the two classes are surveyed and interviewed again to obtain a new round of data.Two rounds of data are compared,and the results are analyzed.Based on the survey data and results,this thesis analyzes the factors affecting the high schools’ English listening individualistic teaching and puts forward the countermeasures to solve the problems.Results show that after the implementation of individualistic listening teaching,the students have made great progress in their listening performance,and their learning enthusiasm has been improved.Individualistic teaching has changed the traditional teaching mode and effectively improved students’ independent learning ability and exploration ability.In addition,the study also finds that the importance of the teachers’ individualistic teaching ability in listening teaching.The individualistic teaching ability of teachers affects the teaching effect to some extent,which undoubtedly puts forward higher professional requirements for teachers.Therefore,under the guidance of the Humanistic Theory and the Multiple Intelligence Theory,the application of individualistic teaching to high school listening teaching is conducive to improving the students’ listening performance and independent learning ability.Individualistic listening teaching is a feasible teaching mode which is worth further promoting.
