A Report On The Chinese Translation Of Hong Kong Financial Texts

This translation practice is based on the Hong Kong financial text during the author’s internship.It mainly includes the company circular,annual report,quarterly report and other contents published by the requesting company on the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Market Website.Today,many companies choose to list in Hong Kong because of preferential policies with result that financial translation is developing rapidly in Hong Kong with bilingual legislation,and playing an important role in international trade activities.With the increase in economic activities between Hong Kong and the Mainland,the demand for Hong Kong financial translation is increasing.Because Hong Kong financial texts are professional texts,the difficulty of practice for translator is how to break the restriction of the text itself,Hong Kong’s special language environment,and the translator’s knowledge.In order to achieve the equivalent between original text and target text,translators should strive to convey correct information to readers in a standardized and concise language,and the word,syntax,format,tone and other aspects should meet the needs in the practise.Therefore,in this paper,the restricted characteristics of Hong Kong financial texts are analyzed from the three aspects : text,environment and subject.Translation is a kind of social activities,the object of translation is the Hong Kong financial text,and the subject is the translator,so it is restricted by the social and cultural environment,text itself and the translators themselves.In this practice,the author summarizes the experience through case analysis,and sincerely hopes to provide reference and guidance for the translator to complete similar translation task in the future.
