| The focus of school education activities is to maximize the mobilization and realization of students’ potential,and how to fully generate students’ internal spirituality and possibility.This should be the best interpretation of the purpose of intellectual education in an ideal school.As an important part of the intellectual education in schools in China,English education is a compulsory subject in elementary school education.Primary school students in rural villages and towns are a large group of English learners in the basic education stage of our country,especially the sixth-grade students.Their English learning is in the transitional stage from elementary school to junior high school,which is the golden period of English learning.As far as education in China is concerned,the primary purpose of sixth-grade students in township primary schools in learning English is to enter the college entrance examination,because progression is a necessary condition for township students to progress,but at the same time most of them have lost the potential for further development and ability.The survey found that due to the limitations of the lack of educational resources in the township area,sixth-grade students have poor English learning performance and little interest in the subject of English.The purpose of their English learning is unclear,lack of correct English learning methods and good English Learning habits,unable to experience success and enjoy the fun of English learning,so that the students’ English learning initiative is low.Learning initiative is the basic quality of the autonomous learning method advocated by the new curriculum.It is also the primary feature of modern learning methods.The process of English learning is a long-term accumulation process,which has higher requirements for students’ English learning initiative.Therefore,it is necessary for us to update an English education concept.It must be clear that,it is important for students to learn English knowledge,but the more important purpose is to enable students to develop their English thinking ability.Through English education and teaching,students will develop good English learning habits and self-learning ability,and generate long-term English learning motivation and interest,strong learning emotions,tenacity of learning will,and enhance their initiative in English learning.To enable students to actively seek new knowledge points,discover problems in English learning,exercise comprehensive language application skills,develop new English thinking,and lay a solid intellectual and ability foundation for future English learning.These have very important meanings for the overall development of the sixth-grade students in the township primary school.The thesis takes the sixth-grade students of a primary school in town A of M city as the research object,and formulates a questionnaire based on the relationship between the indicators of English learning initiative.Through a questionnaire survey of 150 sixth-grade students of the school;interview survey with 10 students,4 English teachers and 20 students’ parents;and 8 classroom teaching observations of English classes,to understand the current situation and problems of the sixth-grade students’ English learning initiative in the township primary school.Through investigation and research,the conclusion of the sixth-grade students in the township primary school is insufficient,and the main factors hindering the initiative of the sixth-grade students in the township primary school are concluded.The reasons for the shortcomings are finally based on its attribution to propose countermeasures to improve the English learning initiative of sixth-grade students in the township primary schools.These provides suggestions and references for the sixth-grade students of township primary schools to learn English happily,actively and proactively,and English teachers to carry out English education and teaching more smoothly. |
